汉语古诗英译的修辞认知探究

A Study on English Translation of Ancient Chinese Poetry from the Perspective of Rhetorical Cognition

无论诗歌创作还是诗歌翻译,修辞认知都渗透于其过程中。修辞认知影响着译者对修辞性话语翻译策略的选择,体现于译诗形式与内容的不同层面。本文从修辞认知发散思维,阐述汉语古诗英译的审美性与语境性修辞认知特征及其修辞认知维度,即艺术化修辞认知与陌生化修辞认知,说明汉语古诗英译修辞认知研究能有效指导译者翻译诗歌诗性话语的认知过程,使原诗在诗意审美上获得新生,从而实现原诗与译诗在诗学效果上的最佳关联。

Poetry involves rhetorical cognition in its creation and translation.The rhetorical cognition paradigm sheds new light on research into the translator’s translation of rhetorical poetic discourse,as in form and content.Based on the central idea of the rhetorical cognition paradigm,this paper explicates the features and dimensions of rhetorical cognition in the English translation of ancient Chinese poetry,namely features of aesthetics and context-dependence as well as dimensions of conventional and unconventional rhetoric.It concludes that the study helps guide the translator through the cognitive process of translating poetic discourse to facilitate the poetic optimal relevance between the source and target poems.
