This paper describes the development background of smart cities and the challenges faced by smart city construction.It analyzes the application of Internet of Things technology in smart city construction,including smart logistics,smart transportation,smart healthcare,and smart elderly care.It explores the significance of smart city construction empowered by IoT technology.
