西方数学教材汉译与中国现代数学话语构建——以李友梅的数学教材翻译为例

The Construction of Chinese Modern Mathematical Discourse through the Translation of Western Course Books:A Case Study of Li Youmei

西方科学著作的汉译在民国时期达到一次高潮。湘籍译者李友梅在该时期翻译了一系列西方数学教材。在术语翻译中,李友梅运用各种隐性知识,主要采用直译加意译、整合传统概念、转换日常用词内涵等方法,使得西方数学知识顺利进入中国数学知识体系。在语篇翻译层面,译者一方面保留和直译原文的话语标记,另一方面运用删减、增译、归化等方法,重构中国传统数学话语,为西方数学话语进入目的语系统争取合法性。李友梅的数学教材翻译,为推动中国新知识体系的形成,推动人们思想观念的现代性发展作出了贡献。

In the period of the Republic of China(1911-1949),Li Youmei translated a series of mathematics course books newlypublished in western countries.To translate western mathematical terms,Li applied methods including literal plus free translation,integration of traditional Chinese mathematical concepts,conversion of daily words into technical terms,etc.While on the discourse level,he tried to retain the original discourse marks in his translation on the one hand,and on the other,applied the methods of addition,deletion and domestication in order to reconstruct the traditional Chinese mathematical discourse and facilitate the introduction of western mathematical discourse into the target cultural system.Li Youmei's translation of mathematics course books makes great contribution to the construction of modern Chinese mathematical discourse and the modernization of Chinese epistemic system.
