This article takes Dostoevsky’s short story“The Honest Thief”as an example,by analyzing the deep meanings of a series of images of“poor people”at the bottom of society and the causes of tragedy in the work——the painful loop between social environment and people’s own“choices”.It discovers Dostoevsky’s high attention to people themselves,reveals the shaping effect of living environment on people,and stimulates the powerful role of good and evil in human nature.
