Research on the Impact of ESG Performance on the International Business Performance of Manufacturing Enterprises

ESG表现是涵盖环境、社会和公司治理三个衡量维度的综合性指标,其在企业可持续发展中所发挥的作用受到广泛关注。对于“含绿量”“含新量”“含金量”要求更高的制造业企业而言,ESG表现是影响其经营发展的重要因素吗?本文选取2018-2022年中国A股上市的制造业企业作为研究对象,尝试探究ESG表现对制造业企业国际化经营水平的影响。研究发现,ESG表现与制造业企业国际化经营水平之间呈现正相关关系,并可通过缓和融资约束和提升企业声誉两条途径来提高制造业企业国际化经营水平,一定程度上为制造业企业深化ESG实践,强化国际竞争力提供了新视角。

ESG performance is a comprehensive indicator that covers three dimensions of environmental,social,and corporate governance,and its role in the sustainable development of enterprises has attracted widespread attention.Is ESG performance an important factor affecting the development of the manufacturing enterprises which is required to gain higher sustainability,innovation and quality?This article selects manufacturing enterprises listed on China's A-share market from 2018 to 2022 as the research object,attempting to explore the impact of ESG performance on their international business performance.Research has found a positive correlation between the two variables,and to be specific,ESG performance of the manufacturing enterprises improves their international business performance by easing the financing constraints and enhancing the corporate reputation.It provides a new perspective for deepening ESG practices and strengthening international competitiveness of the manufacturing enterprises to some extent.
