The Nobel Prize winners Camillo Golgi and Santiago Ramón y Cajal both drew their anatomical images by hand respectively. This paper makes a study of their scientific drawings from the perspective of style and cognitive psychology. From the comparison of these two kinds of drawings,as well as their making process, the conclusion is that Cajal was clearer about the functions of scientific images which are different from those of the artistic images. As a result, the anatomical images by Cajal contain more information and contribute better to the communication of scientific ideas. And Cajal's example shows that scientific visualization is in itself a technology as well as an interpretative intervention.
