Mathematical core competencies is an essential character and key ability that students should possess to adapt to lifelong development and social development needs.The article analyzes the connotation of core competencies in higher vocational mathematics,explores the principles of creating teaching situations in higher vocational mathematics,and points out that the methods of creating teaching situations in higher vocational mathematics are as follows:creating situations through mathematical historical materials to stimulate student interest;role exchange,guiding students to learn independently;computer simulation,creating dynamic scenarios;using multimedia courseware to create intuitive teaching scenarios;close to life,create interesting teaching situations;use review and preview to create a discussion oriented scenario.
