Three cave paintings, which date from about the ninth to the twelfth century and still hold the title of the list, were discovered in the hilly east-southern site of Tashi Island and Qiuo mountain on the western bank of Namtso Lake in 2021 by“the Namtso Lake Research Expedition,”which was jointly organized by the cities of Nagqu and Lhasa.A few of the titles are closely linked to Bon Buddhism during the Tubo period and are extremely consistent with the illustrations that are associated. The remaining portion of the list has nothing to do with animals found in caves or images used as sacrifices, but their coexistence ffers crucial hints about how the Qiangtang ancestors used caverns for trade and cultural exchange with the outside world.
