LA JEUNESSE,founded in 1915,was one of the most important journals of the May Fourth period.Under its influence,youth Mao Zedong received the enlightenment of democracy and science.In the process of in-tense collision and comparison between Chinese and Western cultures,he transformed from a radical democrat with a mixed bag of ideas to a firm believer in Marxism.Closely due to the inspiration and influence of LA JEUNESSE,he published“Research on Sports”,established the Xinmin Society,founded The Shian Kian Weekly Review and set up the Culture Book Store.Clarifying the profound influence of LA JEUNESSE on the transformation of Mao Ze-dong’s thoughts during this period is of great significance for a correct understanding of his ideological awakening and Marxist turn,as well as providing far-reaching ideological guidance and education for contemporary youth groups.
