The effect of“preloaded”user progress indicators on task completion rate and user satisfaction

目的通过控制用户进度指示器的呈现方式,探究不同类型进度指示器对任务完成率和用户满意度的影响。方法招募120名被试完成无意义音节记忆任务,自变量为用户进度指示器类型(无/标准/预加载式/附加文字参照的预加载式),因变量为任务完成率和用户满意度,进行模拟情景下的用户体验对比试验。结果(1)相较于无进度指示器和标准进度指示器,预加载式进度指示器能显著提高任务完成率和用户满意度;(2)附加文字参照的用户进度指示器会显著提升用户满意度而对任务完成率的影响不显著。结论界面设计中可采用附加文字参照的预加载式进度指示器来提升任务完成率和用户满意度。

Objective To explore the effects of different types of progress indicators on task completion rate and user satisfaction by controlling the presentation of user progress indicators.Methods 120 subjects were recruited to complete the nonsense syllable memory task,and the independent variables were the type of user progress indicator(no/standard/preloaded/preloaded with additional text reference)and the dependent variables were the task completion rate and user satisfaction.Results(1)Compared with non-progress indicator and standard progress indicator,preloaded progress indicator can significantly improve task completion rate and user satisfaction;(2)The user progress indicator with text reference can significantly improve user satisfaction,but has no significant effect on task completion rate.Conclusion Preloaded progress indicator with text reference can be used in interface design to improve task completion rate and user satisfaction.
