The theory of“five non-translations”is one of the traditional translation theories in ancient China. It is rooted in Chinese traditional culture. It combines the ancient traditional philosophy with translation theory.Compared with the previous Buddhist translation theories,it has made obvious innovation and development. The theory not only focuses on the improvement of translation quality in a narrow sense, but also starts from the acceptability of readers and the readability of the translated text and combine the traditional philosophy of“inaction”and“harmony but difference”with the translation theory of Buddhist scriptures to seek the balance between Sanskrit and Chinese translation. Its cultural characteristics are the organic integration of traditional Chinese philosophy and translation theory.Compared with the previous translation theory of Buddhist scriptures, the philosophical thought and translation thought contained in the theory of“five non-translations”is obviously a transcendence, and also a sublimation of traditional Chinese philosophy.
