At the age of thirty-five,Confucius visited the state of Qi and discussed ritual propriety and music with the Grand Preceptor at the Qi court.It was then that he learned about the shao music.He was so captivated by the beauty and felicity of the music and dedicated himself to studying it continuously for three months,during which he was so immersed in its artistic conception that he did not even notice the taste of meat in his meals.This story not only shows Confucius'profound attainments in music but also his emphasis on music education.
