The process of localized writing by Chinese Malaysian men or women of letters can be said to be one of a repositioning of native soil and re-seeking for identity. From the end of 1920s to the beginning of the 1940s,Chinese Malaysian men or women of letters, starting from their own feelings for the native soil, tried to find Malaysia as a source of writing environment and material in order to represent the native life.In the process, the Chinese elements in their native soil and identity were gradually deconstructed, and reconstructed with Malaysian elements so that they formed an identification shaped like a lion with a fish tail.Although that identification did not thoroughly get rid of the sense of exile with the Chinese Malaysians,it did provide the group with an image of new commonality. From this it can be seen that the localized writing of the Chinese Malaysian men or women of letters is an exploration, not only in the direction of diaspora literature but also in their sense of belonging.
