Addressing the prevalent trend of a decrease in paper book loaning in university libraries,this article analyzes the reasons for the decline in traditional loaning services.It points out that the decline in loaning is the result of a combination of factors,including advancements in modern information technology,the construction of digital libraries,the changes of reading behavior in the digital era,and the occupation of university students'after-school time by smartphones.The article also discusses the importance of the current quality of paper book collections in libraries,the cultivation of reading concentration,and the compilation of reading demand statistics.
