ON FILIAL PIETY AS A SOURCE OF MORAL MOTIVATION IN CONFUCIANISM

“夫孝,德之本也,教之所以生也”不仅强调孝(悌)是儒家道德体系的本源,而且表明孝(悌)是儒家道德生成和发展的动力之源。孝能够激发人珍爱自己生命、关心父母健康,加强“智、仁、勇”全方位的能力训练、道德修养和意志磨炼;能够推动诸德发展、仁心扩展;能够激励人不断进取,报国为民,建功立业。
