This study utilizes methods such as literature review, video observation, and mathematical statistics to compare and analyze the design, difficulty, and execution of complete routines performed by eight athletes in the Balance Beam event at the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games. The findings reveal the following:(1)Athletes demonstrated an upward trend in both difficulty score and execution score, indicating a progressive shift towards higher difficulty and artistic expression.(2)Mount techniques predominantly involved starting from the end of the beam, with the most common being a switch leg split jump from the D difficulty group.(3)Individual elements on the beam decreased in proportion, with a higher emphasis on rotational elements below a horizontal full turn and dance-based moves such as the switch leg ring jump. The majority of skill elements consisted of the side aerial. The proportion of connected elements increased, with mixed connections being more prevalent.Dance-based move connections primarily consisted of two-element connections, while skill connections primarily involved combinations of D and C difficulty elements.(4)Dismount techniques mainly involved dismounting from the end of the beam, with challenging connections like round-off to back handspring to full twist being the primary advantage. The innovative combination of"back handspring+back handspring+back full twist"introduced a novel and encouraged direction by the International Federation of Gymnastics.
