摘要
乔治·赫伯特的宗教立场一直是学界争论的焦点。《乔治·赫伯特〈圣殿〉中的感官意象与新教神学》(2022)以视觉、听觉、味觉、嗅觉和触觉为切入点,分析了赫伯特诗集《圣殿》中与西方传统“五感”相关的种种意象,并指出,相较于理性,赫伯特更注重个体感觉经验在人神沟通中的重要性。作者在探讨《圣殿》中五感意象的同时,结合16、17世纪的宗教改革,探讨了赫伯特诗歌背后隐藏的新教教义,从而力证了赫伯特的新教立场。
George Herbert’s religious position has long been a focus of controversy in Chinese and foreign academic circles.From the perspectives of sight,hearing,taste,smell,and touch,Xing Fengping’s monograph The Sensory Images and Protestant Theology in George Herbert’s The Temple(2022)analyzes various images related to the Western traditional“five senses”in Herbert’s The Temple,indicating that Herbert pays more attention to the significance of individual sensory experience than to reason in the human-God communication.While exploring the images of the five senses presented in The Temple,the author explores the Protestant doctrines hidden behind Herbert’s poems by referring to the Reformation in the 16th and 17th centuries and demonstrates Herbert’s Protestant stance.
