Editorial Note

海洋生态与环境保护,既是包括《联合国海洋法公约》在内的全球海洋治理体系的重要议题,更是新时代中国特色社会主义建设的重要内容。习近平总书记在全国生态环境保护大会上强调,中国式现代化是“以高品质生态环境支撑的高质量发展”,是“人与自然和谐共生的现代化”。习总书记站在全球治理的战略高度,提出“海洋命运共同体”的理念,关注到海洋领域的气候变化、海洋酸化、海平面上升、海洋塑料污染、海洋生物多样性衰退等人类生存和发展息息相关的生态环境保护问题。

Protecting marine ecosystems and the environment is a critical topic not only within the global marine governance framework,including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea(UNCLOS),but also in the context of building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the modern era.XI Jinping,general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president,highlighted the importance of a“high-quality development supported by a high-quality ecological environment”and a“modernization characterized by harmonious coexistence between man and nature”at the National Conference on Ecological and Environmental Protection.
