Willa Cather,the first American female writer to depict the Western frontier era,is hailed as one of the most outstanding authors of the 20th century.This paper delves into the reconstruction of female immigrant identities in her seminal work,O Pioneers!,from the perspective of"the other".Employing textual analysis,it explores the impact of issues such as rural alienation,patriarchal constraints,and immigrant exclusion on female immigrant identities.The novel portrays their predicament as"others"and their transformation from this status to selfhood.This transformative process involves breaking free from the shackles of"the other,"deconstructing racial and gender limitations,reconstructing identity,and overcoming cultural conflicts to ultimately achieve cultural fusion.The aim of this research is to enrich the study of Willa Cather's works and provide new perspectives and theoretical support for American women's literature.
