In the writing of Canadian modern poets,environment,self,and national imagination are interwoven.From the rise of Canadian modernism in the 1920s to the establish-ment of the Canadian Multiculturalism Act in the 1980s,Canadian modern poets'self-conscious-ness of identity through the northern wilderness was mutual contextualized and been shaped by their national imagination.Their poetic creations demonstrate the reflection and criticism of imperialism and colonialism,as well as the anxiety and confusion in imagining and writing the national identity of Canada.
