摘要
在“四新”建设背景下,越来越多的高校在探索开展专门用途英语教学,尝试学科交叉。但是从最近召开的专门用途英语研讨会看,似乎有一种误解,认为“语言+专业”就是学科交叉,把专业英语教学,以内容为依托教学,甚至全英语教学都看成是专门用途英语教学。本文从专门用途英语角度分析了这三种教学法,讨论了专门用途英语的定义和学科属性,以及如何有效开展专门用途英语教学。
A recent national conference on English for Specific Purposes(ESP)shows that ESP is increasingly becoming an important part of College English and English majors in Chinese colleges and universities,subject to the interdisciplinary requirements in the"Four New Disciplines"Construction.However,it seems that ESP tends to be misunderstood as subject-based English(SBE),content-based instruction(CBI)and even English as a medium of instruction(EMI).These three types of instructions are analyzed through the definition and disciplinary theories of ESP.Some approaches are suggested to carry out ESP teaching.
