Objective To explore the improvement effect of donepezil on intellectual status, cognitive function, and oxidative stress in patients with Alzheimer's disease(AD).Methods Sixty AD patients admitted to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shenyang Medical College from June 2020 to June 2023 were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, with 30 cases in each group. Both groups received lifestyle intervention and treatment with drugs to improve brain metabolism and nourish brain nerves. On this basis, the observation group added donepezil for treatment. The improvement effects of intellectual status, cognitive function, and oxidative stress between two groups after treatment were compared. Results After 3 and 6 months of treatment, the observation group had significantly higher scores on the mini-mental state examination than the control group, and significantly lower scores on the Alzheimer's disease assessment scale-cognitive component than the control group(P<0.05).After 6 months of treatment, the levels of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group, while the levels of malondialdehyde, homocysteine and serum uric acid in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Donepezil can further improve the intellectual status and cognitive function of AD patients, and can effectively regulate oxidative stress balance.
