Young Homosexual Individuals'Conceptions and Practices of Coming Out to Family

基于对28位90后、00后同性恋者的深度访谈,文章探索了青年同性恋者的家庭出柜观念与实践。研究发现,伴随着个人成长与能力提升,青年同性恋者将身份表达塑造为一个以自我为中心、针对不同的家庭成员采取差异化策略的过程。在这一过程中,青年同性恋者敏锐地察觉到不稳定的家庭关系和传统家文化中蕴含的资源与风险,并灵活地利用情境改写规则,使其服务于自己的抉择。随着当代青年同性恋者的出柜抉择与行动策略有了更多元的表现形式,传统主流叙事中出柜的严肃性与特殊性有了一定程度的消解,以往以“维持稳定的家庭关系”为单一主题的同性恋家庭故事有了新的扩展。

In order to explore the conceptions and practices of coming out to family among young homosexual individuals,we conducted in-depth interviews with 28 post-90s and post-00s lesbian and gay individuals.The study reveals that along with personal growth and ability improvement,the decision to come out to family for young homosexual individuals was molded as a self-centered process of utilizing diverse identity expression strategies towards different family and social members.Throughout this process,young homosexual individuals keenly perceive the resources and risks inherent in unstable family relationships and traditional kinship culture,and flexibly manipulate norms based on context to align with their own decisions.The diversified conceptions and practices of coming out among modern Chinese young homosexual individuals manifest a more pronounced shift toward individualism.Stories in this research tone down the seriousness and particularity of coming out in traditional mainstream narratives,and supplement the single dominant theme of"maintaining stable family relationships"in previous family stories of homosexual individuals.
