The two major translation strategies,domestication and foreignization,have always been the focus of translation studies.Domestication strategy improves the readability and fluency of the text by adapting to the customs of the target culture,while foreignization strategy enriches the target language and promotes cross-cultural understanding by preserving the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the original text.Both strategies have their own advantages.Domestication strategy is more suitable for business documents or teaching materials,while foreignization strategy is more suitable for literary or historical texts.The choice of strategy depends on the translation purpose,text type,and audience response.This study explores the impact of different strategies in different cultural backgrounds and how to balance domestication and foreignization.
