Dance is a visual art and the im portance of clothing can not be ignored in dance performances.Proper clothing design can enhance the body expression of dance,sha pe character characteristics and showcase dance themes.The connotation of dance costumes was analyzed and the interrelationship between dance perfor mance and dance costumes was elucidated.Through specific examples,the role of dance cos tumes in different dance genres was analyzed and the principles of selection and matching were explored,while loo-king forward to its development trend,with a view to enabling relevant scholars to fully understand the significance of dance cos-tumes.Dance works should not only have exquisite action performances,but also be accompanied by music,clothing,props,light-ing,etc.Clothing not only enhances the overall effect of dance works,but also helps to perfect dance creation and better express crea-tive concepts.
