The relationship between urban and rural areas is a fundamental one in human society,which has had a profound impact on China's development.After the founding of New China,the urban-rural relationship has gone through five stages of urban and rural restoration,binary division,adjustment and reform,coordination,and comprehensive integration and has been a historical process that unifies continuity and stage,nationhood and universality,and the main line and multifaceted unfolding.Besides,the urban-rural relationship has formed the unchanging qualities of following the direction of historical progress,adhering to the dominate position of the people,being oriented by the problems of the times,and emphasizing the intrinsic connection between history,reality,and the future.The great historical outlook is required to accurately grasp the evolution of urban-rural relations in New China and meanwhile the unique ideological value of the great historical outlook is highlighted.
