This article takes Zhang Helong's Contemporary British Fiction From the Postmodern to“the Post-Postmodern”as the research object,and explores the impact of modernity on British fiction.Since the 18th century,British fiction has been closely linked to modernity,experiencing the formal experiments of modernism and the innovations of the postmodern period.The works of writers such as Fowles,Burgess,and Ishiguro demonstrate experimental and pioneering qualities,while also reflecting on major issues.Lessing's exploration of the relationship between reality and fiction,art,and reality in her Golden Notebook is also discussed.These novels have not only enhanced the significance and value of the novel genre,but have also changed human beingsview of the novel and creative literary practice.
