During the late Spring and Autumn Period(around 544 BC),the states of Wu and Yue engaged in a fierce war for supremacy.Following Yue's defeat,King Goujian of Yue was captured and tortured,all while harboring the hope of returning to his home state one day.Eventually,he managed to escape and make his way back to the state of Yue.
