In recent years, the incidence of metabolic syndrome has been increasing, and the age of onset has gradually become younger..The current management strategies for metabolic syndrome, however, are not sufficiently effective, which calls for a novel therapeutic option.Present studies showed that curcumin had potential beneficial effects on metabolic syndrome by alleviating obesity, regulating glucose and lipid metabolism, and decreasing insulin resistance vias various mechanisms. This review summarizes the underlying mechanism and therapeutic benefits of curcumin on metabolic syndrome,to provide some favorable theoretical evidences for its treatment.
