Bridging the gap between virtual and real self-identity has always been a challenging issue for researchers. The particularity of AI subjects provides the possibility for users to exert their own subjectivity and bridge the gap between virtual and real space self-identity.This study takes two pieces of emotional companion AI software,Dream Island and GLOW,as research objects, and adopts methods such as in-depth interviews and text analysis to explore the mechanism of human-computer interaction in bridging the selfidentity gap between virtual and real spaces. The study found that intelligent agents build bridges for virtual and real identity construction through the underlying mechanisms of"significant others"and"subject triggers",and users bridge the self-identity gap between virtual and real spaces through their daily human-computer interaction practices in selfunderstanding,self-realization,and self-extension.
