From Shanghai to Tokyo: An Exploration on Guan Zilan's Studying in Japan

民国女画家关紫兰于20世纪二三十年代两次留学日本,入读东京文化学院。在日期间,关紫兰举办了一次个人展览会,作品二度入选日本二科展,受到了日本画坛的好评。能在日本取得这样的认可,在当时的民国画坛并不多见。梳理关紫兰留学期间的活动及创作,有助于理解留日对关紫兰艺术生涯的意义所在。

Guan Zilan,a female painter from the Republic of China,studied in Japan twice in the 1920s and 1930s and enrolled in the Tokyo Institute of Culture.During this period,Guan Zilan held a personal exhibition and her works were selected twice in the Nika Exhibition,receiving high praise from the Japanese art world.It was not common in the art world of the Republic of China at that time to achieve such recognition in Japan.This paper aims to sort out Guan Zilan's activities and creations during the period of her studying abroad,which helps to understand the significance of studying in Japan for Guan Zilan s artistic career.
