A new work of Japanese repatriation literature,Reed Boat,Flying, published in 20ll,reflects on the complexity of the repatriation experience, confronts Japan's colonial history as a perpetrator, and with a global perspective and an ethical spirit for the"Other",achieves a breakthrough from the victim narratives that Japanese repatriation literature has often fallen into in the past. The novel participates in the preservation of the memory of Japan's repatriation, enriches the historical narrative of Japan's World War II,and has profound practical implications for our consideration in the constructing of a community of human destiny. The novel is of great relevance and value in bringing the marginalized history of the repatriation to the public attention, correcting the post-war posture of avoiding responsibility for the perpetrators of the war that prevailed in Japanese society, and enlightening the Japanese people to face up to their colonial sins and assume responsibility for the warofaggression.
