The drama Gold or Shit,driven by the themes of"returning home"and"encountering each other",tells the story of Wu Di,who has been"drifting in Bejing"for a long time,choosing to return home after facing both the dilemma of career and relationship crisis.The film's theme and narrative are based on Wu Di's drama movie Seems to be an Old Friend Coming and Feng Liuliu's documentary The People Returning Home.The capture of numerous life details in the film forms a daily narrative,which serves as the film's basic structure,conveying a value of"allowing everything to happen"and life not needing to be defined,thereby constructing a modern"secular myth".
