Back in 2013,Chinese President Xi Jinping made his very first Central Asia visit as China's head of state and put forward the initiative of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt in Astana,Kazakhstan.The initiative,together with the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road he proposed the following month in Indonesia,constitutes the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI),which aims to boost connectivity along and beyond the ancient Silk Road routes.
