The National Natural Science Foundation(NNSF)serves as a crucial source of funding for basic research, and comprehending it from a scientific perspective is essential for researchers in China to seek financial support.Under such background, the study conducts an empirical analysis of research project data based on NNSF and the papers funded by it in the Web of Science database. The findings reveal a rapid increase in both the number of NNSF projects and funded papers since the 21st century.Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates that researchers ability to acquire funding shows a strong positive correlation with their professional experience and the average number of papers published.Additionally,it observes significant correlations between the cooperation interval, number of collaborators within scholars paper cooperation networks, and their number of funding. Moreover, the study performs statistical analyses to explore geographical distribution patterns of funds as well as collaborators within scholars paper cooperation networks.Overall, this research aims to uncover common characteristics among scholars involved in NNSF projects while facilitating further exploration into theories and methodologies related to NNSF data.
