The movie“Paradise Cinema”uses temporal narrative methods,such as reverse and interlude,to present the development process of cinemas spanning half a century.However,the spatial elements in the film also demonstrate important narrative functions.The cinema,square,and windows are three important spatial images in the film,and their conflicts and connections reflect the changes in people’s real living conditions over the past thirty years.As a utopia in the realm of reality,cinema has undergone a transformation in its way of existence from a“land of redemption”to a“land of desire”and then to a“wasteland”.Its essence is the transformation of the human soul and the way reality exists.The square presents a harsh reality of cold light,contrasting with the magnificent and false ideals of the cinema.As a bridge connecting ideals and reality,windows are a perfect reflection of the anxious state of people struggling between ideals and reality.
