Changshan Islands,a chain of Uislands that occupy the most critical position of the Bohai Strait,straddle the 38th parallel north and connect the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea.With fertile land and rich marine resources,the waters around the islands abound with sea cucumbers,abalones,sea urchins,and a great variety of fishes and shrimps,making these islands rightfully known as the"land of fish and rice"in northern China.When the harvest of wheat comes,the nearby fishes,shrimps,crabs,and all kinds of shellfish become the best treats for the local fishing households.
