生活美学典籍《长物志》英译副文本考察

Zhang Wu Zhi is one of the renowned ancient Chinese classics of life aesthetics,which serves as a summary of the life aesthetic concepts of scholar-bureaucrats and the author Wen Zhenheng himself.The translation by Tony Blishen is the only English version of Zhang Wu Zhi,and it contains a variety of para-texts.Based on the description and analysis of the para-texts in the English translation of Zhang Wu Zhi,this article explores how para-texts construct this English version.The research indicates that the cover,annotations,and translator's notes emphasize the translator’s insistence on“truth-seeking”and striving to reflect the original author's wisdom,acting as a bridge between the original work and the English-speaking world.Moreover,the translator plays the roles of an architect and a painter in this process.The preface,footnotes,and pictures can guide readers to read,understand,and accept the cultural information about gardening in the source language text.From the binding information and the news advertisements related to English translated version,it can be seen that the publishers and sponsors cooperated closely,providing policy and financial support to facilitate the global promotion of the translated version.
