《北京折叠》英译中人际功能的双向建构

Bidirectional Construction of Interpersonal Function in the English Translation of Beijing Folding

文学作品能反映多种社会生活情形,翻译能促进文学作品的跨文化传播。随着时代的发展,科幻文学作品百花齐放,并逐步与多种文学形式相结合。《北京折叠》流传比较广泛的英译本为刘宇昆所翻译,他的翻译能体现系统功能语言学理论,主要从语气系统、情态系统和评价系统三个方面实现了对人际功能的双向建构:一方面在翻译过程中对原文中的人际功能进行恰当的理解和转化,另一方面,在译文中重新构建这种人际功能,以实现原文与译文在人际交流层面的对等,为中国文学的英译及科幻文学作品的内容解读提供相应参考与借鉴。从《北京折叠》英译中人际功能的双向建构入手,从语气系统中弥补英语语气表达能力不足、情态系统中加强汉语情态系统跨文化交流、评价系统中表明作者观点态度角度进行了系统的探究。

Literary works can reflect multiple social and life situations,and translation can promote the cross-cultural dissemination of literary works.With the development of the times and physics,science fiction literary works have blossomed and gradually combined with various literary forms and connotations.The widely circulated English translation of Beijing Folding was translated by Liu Yukun.During the translation process,he combined systemic functional linguistics theory to achieve a two-way construction of interpersonal functions from three aspects:tone system,modality system,and evaluation system.This provides corresponding reference and inspiration for the English translation of Chinese literature and the interpretation of science fiction literature.Starting from the bidirectional construction of interpersonal functions in the English translation of Beijing Folding,this study systematically explores the perspectives of the author’s viewpoint and attitude from the perspectives of compensating for the lack of English tone expression ability in the tone system,strengthening cross-cultural communication in the Chinese modality system,and indicating the author’s viewpoint and attitude in the evaluation system.
