Since the introduction of Western learning to China, interpretations of Confucian ethics have predominantly employed the theoretical framework of Western ethics to systematize Confucian moral philosophy. While this approach holds academic research value,it has not fully captured the true spirit of Confucian ethics. In Confucianism, which emphasizes practical wisdom for living in the world, the pursuit of value is fundamentally centered on emotions as a key reflection of the quality and morality of life. This forms the basis for ethical norms, and the justice and appropriateness of moral obligations,i.e.,righteousness stems from emotions.Simultaneously,Confucian moral cultivation is also a form of emotional-centered life transformation. Therefore,Confucianism ethics can be summarized by the term“emotions and righteousness.”In fact, this term has always been the key concept employed by the Chinese in making ethical judgments. For this reason, interpreting Confucian ethical thought through“emotions and righteousness”undoubtedly aligns more closely with the characteristics of Confucian ethics and is also in line with the practical ethical life of the Chinese people.
