Construction of the Functions of Global Cities based on Spatial Duality

全球城市具有不同于一般城市的异质性功能,并在全球化中发挥着重大作用,这一直是全球城市研究的核心问题之一。学者们对此进行了大量探索性工作,形成了丰富的文献,但大多数研究基于单一地点空间来阐述全球城市功能的形成机理,以特征事实的现象学表述方法对此进行定义,并强调其功能发挥的控制和支配性。为此,需要对此进行反思,深刻认识全球城市功能的空间性问题,从地点与流动空间双重性来重新建构全球城市功能的形成机理、本质特征(本源性),以及全球城市的功能结构与作用方式等基本框架。

Global cities have heterogeneous functions that distinguish them from general cities and play a significant role in globalization,which has always been one of the core issues in global urban research.Scholars have conducted extensive explor⁃atory work on this topic,resulting in a rich body of literature.However,most studies are based on a single place space to explain the formation mechanisms of global cities'functions,defining them through phenomenological methods and emphasizing their con⁃trol and dominance.Therefore,it is necessary to reflect on this and gain a deeper understanding of the spatial aspects of global ur⁃ban functions.We need to reconstruct the basic framework of global urban formation mechanisms,define their origins,functional structures,and modes of operation,taking into account the dual nature of place and flow space.
