Ming-style furniture is a brilliant pearl in the history of Chinese furniture development, attracting considerable attention in academic and commercial fields. This is mainly because the creative ideas of Ming-style furniture have multiple connections with China's indigenous religion, the“Taoist thought”,representing a comprehensive development of ancient Chinese philosophy and traditional craftsmanship. In order to further explore the creative ideas and connotations of Ming-style furniture, and to rationally apply theoretical guidance to innovative practices, this article started from the social background of the Ming Dynasty, combining historical, humanistic, and artistic fields, supplemented by arguments from the content of the“Tao Te Ching”and“Zhouyi Xicizhuan”.By collecting data through desktop re‐search and image verification, the rich connotation of Ming-style furniture in modeling, materials, craftsmanship, and decoration was deeply understood, characterized by“elegance in seclusion, unity in opposition, and a harmonious blend of emotions and reason.”By connection the research on various aspects of Ming-style furniture to interpret and elucidate its creative essence, theoretical validation was conducted through innovative practices, followed by a comprehen‐sive evaluation and the proposal of a new perspective on the development of traditional furniture.
