Four factors to influence the calculation of final settlement of pile foundation by using the current code are analyzed herein. Through the study on a large amount of field measuring data several results have been made, which deals with the principle of time\|space effects of the interaction between pile and soil, the settlements including vertical and lateral settlements, the thickness of compressive stratum being within 0 618B(B represents the width of the suporting platform) and E\-s=1\^49E 0\^1~0\^2 in the compressive stratum. Finally, a model (Gan\|Chen model) for the calculation of pile settlement has been suggested.
