清单,不仅出现在日常生活中,也出现在文学作品中。埃科作为一名“清单爱好者”,经常在自己的小说中留下清单,并著书研究清单。在埃科看来,清单独具诗学魅力,而非单纯的实用之物。文学作品中的清单是一种独特的诗学结构,它开辟了作者与读者双向互动的编码游戏空间,充分体现出有序与无序、有限与无限、规则与随机之间的艺术张力。清单在埃科的小说创作和符号学研究之间架设起一道桥梁,成为其兼具平衡性、整体性和开放性的符号诗学主张的重要喻体,他对清单的兴趣本质上是对这一符号诗学理念的追求。
Lists appear not only in everyday life,but also in literary works.As a“list lover”,Umberto Eco often left lists in his novels and wrote books to study them.In Eco's view,lists have a poetic charm,rather than a purely practical thing.Lists in literary works are a unique poetic structure,which opens up a coding game space for two-way interaction between authors and readers,fully embodying the artistic tension between order and disorder,finite and infinite,rules and randomness.Lists serve as a bridge between Eco's novel and semiotic research,and become an important metaphor for his balanced,holistic,and open-ended semiotics claims,and his interest in lists is essentially the pursuit of a semiotic poetics idea.
