国家翻译实践之“实践”——概念、内涵及英译

理论的建构起于术语的创设与规范。“国家翻译实践”作为近10年来出现的我国学者自创的译学术语,是基于对中外翻译史上现象化的国家翻译行为、组织机构、方式方法等多维度的考察和描写而创生的译学概念,已经在国内学界获得认同。然而,本土译学术语需要经历从话语认知到话语认同的过程,其中新术语的外译标准化是国际化的重要环节。本文从中西方语境历时性解读“实践”概念的变迁入手,解析“国家翻译实践”概念中“实践”一词的内涵与外延,从“三重三义”视角进行对比评估,进而指出“program”为最佳译文选项,为“国家翻译实践”这一译学术语的准确译传、认同达成提供借鉴。

Theoretical construction is generated from the coinage of a new concept and its acceptance as terminology after a course of standardization.The past decade has witnessed the emergence and advancement of“Guojia Fanyi Shijian”,or State Translation Program(STP),a concept in translation studies proposed by Chinese scholars.STP is a new concept based on multi-dimensional investigation and description of the phenomenization of State translation activities,organizational structure,patterns and methods in the history of Chinese and foreign translation.The concept has been recognized in domestic academic circles.However,indigenous translation terminologies need to undergo a process from discourse cognition to discourse recognition,in which the standardized translation is a fundamental factor in their internationalization.In the hope of consensus of recognition in the international scholarship of State Translation Program,this paper expounds the diachronic changes of“Shijian”in Chinese and Western contexts and analyzes its connotation and denotation,followed by a three-layer semantic comparison and evaluation of its possible translated versions in English.It is verified that the version of“program”is its optimal English version featuring constructiveness and scientificity.
