Objective To explore the effects of percutaneous vertebroplasty on spinal function and bone density in elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.Method 61 elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures admitted to our hospital were selected as the subjects. The sample cases were included from June 2022 to December 2023,and were grouped according to the treatment method.Among them,30 patients who received conventional reduction treatment were the reference group, and 31 patients who received percutaneous vertebroplasty treatment were the study group.Compare the pain level, spinal function, bone density, and related treatment indicators between two groups.Result The pain severity score of the study group patients was lower than that of the reference group(P<0.05);the spinal function score of the study group patients was lower than that of the reference group(P<0.05),and the bone density index of the study group patients was higher than that of the reference group(P<0.05);the first time of getting out of bed and hospitalization time of patients in the study group were shorter than those in the reference group(P<0.05).Conclusion Percutaneous vertebroplasty for elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures can effectively alleviate pain, improve lumbar function, stabilize bone metabolism, facilitate early recovery, and actively shorten treatment time.
