Professor Ottmar Ette's literary research consistently reveals a profound concern for reality.Through focusing on the topics of literature,life,and living together or conviviality,he shared his experiences of transcending certain established boundaries in the academic world against the backdrop of increasingly specialized and thus complex disciplines.His experience showcased how to stay true to the original inspiration in scientific research.In the interview,not only did he elaborate on the concepts that are crucial to his theoretical framework such as"lived reality,"literatures of the world,and TransArea Studies,but he also provided insights,as a response to the trend of specialization,on the value of literature,the relationship between theory and literature,and the relationship between literary criticism and literary creation.His observations open up new possibilities for literary research.
