My earliest recollection of the Olympic Games was at age twelve'l(Figure 1),when in 1948 the XiV Olympiad was hosted bymy place of birth,London,England.As a keen stamp collector Iparticularly admired the British Olympic postage stamp designed by Abram Games(Figure 2).Three years later by good fortune this renowned designer became a guest at my parents seaside hotel!On learning of my passion to draw he encouraged me to attend the local art school,he laterbecome my lifelongmentor.My other passion was sports,excelling in the running,long&high jump events at my school,I even became an accomplished weightlfter!Consequently every four years I followed the Olympic Games,with a special interest in their design programs,which over the years played an increasingly important element of the Games.
