After the publication of The Biographies of Wise People in Qiantang,its transmission process was bumpy,and the Song and Yuan versions are no longer traceable.The earlier versions seen today are the Qing Dynasty versions,which can be divided into two systems:the Zheng Dajie family collection version and Zhibuzuzhai Series version.When author Yuan Shao wrote biographies about characters in the book,he paid great attention to the completeness of character information,that is,the content he wrote not only includes basic information and main deeds of the characters,but also includes praise.At the same time,in order to highlight the rigor of the content he wrote,Yuan Shao relied on official histories,local chronicles,political books,and other literature materials,with a relatively rich reference to historical materials,thus having high historical value.The specialized research and attention to this book is almost in a vacuum zone.This article discusses the version,compilation,character types,and historical value of The Biographies of Wise People in Qiantang.
