西方视角下明代“华夷”关系的图像叙事——《谟区查抄本》中人物插图探析

Pictorial Narrative of the“China-Barbarian”Relationship in the Ming Dynasty from Western Perspective:An analysis of character illustrations in The Boxer Codex

成书于16世纪末的《谟区查抄本》以西方人视角记录明代中国与周边国家的社会风貌与人物形象,体现中国在东南亚、东亚地区的参与和影响。本文以该抄本中的人物插图为研究对象,结合区域交流史料,揭示隐含的土著异邦、华商与平民、明官员与皇室的“华夷”关系秩序,进而阐释该抄本编撰者对不同族群的观察与想象。

The Boxer Codex was written in the late 1960s,recording the social landscapes and the characters of China with its neighboring countries during the Ming Dynasty from a Western perspective.It reflects Chinese participation and influence in Southeast Asia and the East Asian region.Taking its characters illustrations as the research subjects,this paper combines the research data on the exchanges between China and Southeast Asia and reveal the order of“China-Barbarian”relations among the indigenous,Chinese merchants and commoners,and Ming officials as well as the royals,then explains the observations and imaginations of the book's compilers respect to the different groups of people.
